Which Type Of Vinyl Planking is Best For Your Home?

Vinyl planking is primarily constructed with two different types of cores, a Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) or a Stone Plastic Composite (SPC). Both are waterproof, scratch resistant, and very durable against heavy foot traffic. However, they each have their own unique features that you should take into consideration before making a final selection!

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC): Created with wood or wood-like materials, along with a foaming agent and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) fillers. The foaming agent helps make the floor softer and warmer underfoot. This makes a great choice for areas like living rooms and bedrooms, where comfort is more appreciated!

Stone Polymer Composite (SPC): Created using limestone and other PVC fillers. It is typically thinner, cheaper, and more resistant to dents and drops compared to WPC. This makes an ideal choice for rooms that are subject to heavier furniture than your traditional appliances!

All in all, both the WPC and SPC cores will perform very well in a residential home and last many years to come. The ultimate option comes down to what features are most valuable to you. If you are still undecided, be sure to discuss the project with your flooring provider for a second opinion!
