 Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook time: 4 hours

Yield: Roughly 8 servings

Ingredients:

Two pounds ground beef

One medium yellow onion, chopped

Two green bell peppers, seeded and diced

Two 6oz cans tomato paste

One and a half cups water

One teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)

Eight torpedo rolls, split

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Place ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat, along with chopped onions and peppers. Let this cook until meat is evenly browned and vegetables are tender. Drain excess grease from pan.

2. Transfer mixture to slow cooker, along with tomato paste, red pepper flakes, water, and salt and pepper as desired. Cover, and cook on low for at least 4 hours for sauce to thicken and flavors to blend. The longer it is left to simmer, the spicier it will get! Be sure to stir occasionally.

3.  Spoon mixture into torpedo rolls and serve hot.
